The modularity principle
These pallets are designed to fit exactly within the 1200×800 mm Euro pallet footprint. 2 half pallets (800×600) occupy precisely the surface of one Euro pallet. So do 4 quarter pallets (600×400). This modularity lets you mix formats on the same truck or in the same racking without losing a centimetre — and it is why these formats dominate European retail display logistics.
Construction types
Bottom boards (4-way entry) or stringers (2-way entry): half and quarter pallets come in two fundamental constructions. The bottom-board model (3 bottom boards with blocks or feet) offers 4-way entry — handled by pallet truck or forklift from all four sides. The stringer model (2 or 3 longitudinal stringers) offers only 2-way entry but is lighter and cheaper. In retail distribution, the 4-way bottom-board model is preferred for handling flexibility on the shop floor.
Overhanging or flush deck: as with one-way pallets, half and quarter pallets are available with an overhanging deck (top boards extending beyond the feet — ideal for shrink-wrapping and load stability) or a flush deck (deck aligned with the feet — more compact stacking of empty pallets).
Number of deck boards: half pallets 800×600 usually come with 4 to 5 boards (standard) or 7 boards (close-boarded, also called full deck), depending on the goods to be carried. Quarter pallets 600×400 typically have 4 boards as standard or 6 boards close-boarded.

Main uses
Retail distribution: promotional end-caps, direct-to-shelf display, in-store promotions. The 800×600 format is the standard of supermarket display across Europe — the pallet arrives in store and goes straight onto the floor without restacking.
E-commerce and picking: a compact, manoeuvrable format for order-preparation warehouses. Low weight (around 9.5 kg for a mini pallet), can be moved without a forklift.
Point-of-sale displays: the 600×400 quarter pallet is the classic base for display units. Compact footprint, ideal for tight retail space and targeted promotions.
